WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI issued the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman reacting to U.S. Congressional leadership's announcement of the appointment of conferees to the committee to consider the United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA) and America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (COMPETES) Act, also referred to as the Bipartisan Innovation Act.

“We commend the U.S. Congress for making progress to advance the Bipartisan Innovation Act. This legislation would strengthen U.S. technological leadership and fortify the U.S. economy by increasing manufacturing in America, strengthening supply chains, and addressing bottlenecks in key areas like semiconductors. Enhancing U.S. competitiveness will benefit all Americans, and we urge lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to seize this historic opportunity and reach a bicameral agreement on the competitiveness bills that have cleared both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, send it to the president’s desk, and make clear the U.S. will use its technological prowess to compete for generations to come.”

In February, ITI sent a letter to lawmakers outlining key priorities to consider as they reconcile the United States Innovation and Competition Act (USICA) and America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing Pre-Eminence in Technology and Economic Strength (COMPETES) Act.

In March, ITI’s Oxman published a blog underscoring the need for Congress to pass the measure.
