ITI and our members applaud the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative's (USTR's) announcement Friday on the start of negotiations to eliminate tariffs on environmental goods, which will foster a cleaner environment, global economic growth, and American innovation and jobs. We welcome this sectoral approach to trade liberalization and believe it is the future course for how the World Trade Organization can effectively open markets around the world in important areas such as green technologies.  The approach mirrors the work already underway to expand the Information Technology Agreement and to conclude the Trade in Services Agreement negotiations.
