WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI issued the following statement reacting to reports that the bilateral trade negotiations between the United States and United Kingdom will begin on Tuesday:

“We welcome the reported news that bilateral trade negotiations between the U.S. and UK, two of the world’s most innovative economies, will soon get underway,” said ITI President and CEO Jason Oxman. “The current global crisis makes it all the more important that like-minded governments work together to deepen their economic relationships and facilitate an environment where digital trade can thrive. A U.S.-UK agreement reflecting commercially meaningful rules-based and market access commitments as well as sound, transparent, risk-based approaches to regulation will set the stage for digital trade and innovation to flourish across the Atlantic now and into the future.”
