WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI released a new set of online trainings to better connect government contractors and other users with accessible technology products, services, and tools. As the leading technology advocate for accessibility policies and standards, ITI works closely with governments, consumers, and industry sectors around the world to innovate and deliver technology solutions that empower everyone, regardless of ability.

ITI’s Voluntary Product Accessibility Template® (VPAT), used to create the Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), is the leading global standard used by government contractors and other users of technology to report the accessibility of a product. ITI’s VPAT helps ensure that technology products can accurately reflect their conformance to accessibility standards and guidelines to be accessible to those with disabilities. ITI’s new training series will guide use of the VPAT, which can enable manufacturers to effectively market and users to better evaluate accessible technology solutions.

“Technology is changing our world and lives for the better, including for people with disabilities and age-related limitations,” said Jason Oxman, ITI President and CEO. “For such individuals, internet-, hardware- and software-based solutions help empower them at home, in school, and in the workplace, enabling them to access information, entertainment, education, and employment opportunities from nearly anywhere in the world. ITI’s VPAT online training will help government contractors and other users assess technology solutions for people with disabilities.”

ITI remains committed to maintaining the market relevance of the VPAT and will continue to assess and respond to global developments in information and communications technology (ICT) accessibility standardization as appropriate. Version 2 of the VPAT was expanded in 2020 to include the leading ICT accessibility standards: Section 508 (U.S.), EN 301 549 (EU), and W3C/WAI WCAG.

The VPAT is offered free of charge. Membership in ITI is not required to use the VPAT.

The VPAT training modules are available on ITI's YouTube channel.
