WASHINGTON – Today, ITI issued the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman after he attended the signing of the phase one trade deal between the United States and China at the White House:
“The ‘phase one’ deal is great news for American consumers and businesses. We commend the Trump Administration for reaching this important moment. This agreement will begin to address key industry concerns with China, including forced technology transfer and IP protections.
“We hope both countries use the positive momentum from today’s signing ceremony to reach a substantive, lasting final deal that meaningfully addresses the remaining long-standing issues that U.S. companies face in the Chinese market. Ending this conflict and phasing out remaining tariffs will support innovation, allow the economy to prosper, and ease the strain on American businesses, workers, and consumers. We urge both negotiating teams to work expeditiously on phase two.”
