WASHINGTON – Today, global tech trade association ITI issued the following statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman in response to the November 22-23 U.S.-India Trade Policy Forum meetings in New Delhi:

“While we welcome the United States and India’s commitment to increasing trade and enhancing the bilateral economic relationship through the Trade Policy Forum, significant work remains. Given the key role the digital economy plays in both countries, we strongly encourage leaders to build on this week’s meetings to address systemic barriers to trade in technology goods and services and reinforce support for open digital markets and opposition to protectionism. As large democratic market economies, it is imperative that the U.S. and India jointly prioritize open, equitable, non-discriminatory and inclusive rules-based trade and establish an ongoing channel for bilateral dialogue on digital policy to help restore and facilitate growth and foster innovation in both economies.”
